Resurgence in CMS Contract Activity in June

In June 2008, NelsonHall identified 124 contracts worldwide. Forty-three of these were BPO contracts, with a high level of activity in industry-specific and customer management services.
The level of customer management services activity was particularly pronounced in June 2008, both in terms of the number of contracts and in the value of individual contracts:
- Convergys Awarded $180m Customer Management Services Contract Renewal by Large Industrial Manufacturer
- Vertex Awarded £40m Customer Management Services Contract Extension by Birmingham City Council
- TeleTech Awarded Customer Management Services Contract Expansion by Global Financial Services Company
The government sector showed a high level of contract activity in June with a relatively novel approach being the combination of Capgemini and Hogg Robinson to provide travel booking services to the U.K. Ministry of Defense:
- Capgemini and Hogg Robinson Group Awarded Contract for Travel Booking Services by U.K. Ministry of Defense
- Capita Selected as Preferred Supplier for £70m Gas Installer Registration Services by Health and Safety Executive
- ACS Awarded $67m Student Loan Servicing Contract by Student Loan Finance Corporation
Within HR outsourcing a major multi-process HR outsourcing contract was awarded for the first time in almost a year, another learning services contract emerged from the defense sector, and Altair announced a number of contracts for learning services:
- IBM Awarded $324m Multi_process HR BPO Contract by Bristol-Myers Squibb
- SAIC Awarded $13m Learning Services Contract by the Defense Finance and Accounting Service
- Altair Awarded Contract for Relocation Services by U.S. Property & Casualty Company
Overall, the breakdown of the recent BPO contracts was:
