April 2010 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by NelsonHall FAO analyst Aditya Birla Minacs is taking over Compass BPO's operations in the U.K., U.S., Middle East and India, with ~350 personnel. Compass BPO will now form the core of Minacs' FAO offering and Minacs plans to quickly integrate it with its own FAO operations. The founders of Compass BPO, David McCullough and Mark Atkins, are to join Minacs' management and will be leading Minacs' F&A Outsourcing division globally. July 2010 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Linda Merritt With the acquisition of Hewitt, Aon will become the largest HR consulting and outsourcing player globally. Its increased scale, scope and combined strengths will enable Aon to better compete within the fast changing benefits market where several big moves have been made this year, including the merger of Towers Perrin and Watson Wyatt and the acquisition by ACS, a Xerox Company, of ExcellerateHRO. In a sense this is a reverse acquisition that recognizes the strength of the Hewitt brand in the new name, Aon Hewitt, and brings over the Hewitt chairman and CEO to manage the business. The combined entity at $4.3bn FY 2009 revenues will be nearly quadruple the size of Aon Consulting with its $1.3bn when added to the larger Hewitt's $3.0bn. December 2010 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Rachael Stormonth On December 14, 2010, after the market close, Atos Origin ("Atos") announced its intention to acquire Siemens IT Solutions and Services ("SIS") This was an opportunity that Atos could not turn down as it will make it a European major, leapfrogging over Capgemini, T-Systems and Fujitsu with significantly increased capabilities in IT infrastructure management and the scale to be a contender for much larger multinational deals involving key markets in western and central Europe. It will need to continue its focus on expanding its global delivery network, and now also on integrating processes and tools across delivery centers, and probably on modernizing its data center network........ September 2008 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Andy Efstathiou CSC has embarked on a journey to move from positioning as a large, complex project manager to an industry-specialized vendor of IT solutions and services. This perspective reviews their progress. June 2009 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by NelsonHall FAO analyst As part of its global 'Rightshore' strategy, Capgemini is focusing on growing delivery capability in Central America with the intention to provide nearshore capability for the North American market. July 2008 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Dominique Raviart Capgemini has reached an agreement with Dutch telecom service provider KPN to purchase Business Application Services (BAS), a unit of Getronics PinkRoccade. The company is expected to pay an equity value of €255m in cash. The acquisition is expected to finalize before the end of 2008. August 2008 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Andy Efstathiou EDS' BPO targeting and business strategy in the Spanish banking market is part of its overall Southern European covering Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Greece. The company is targeting medium sized retail banks, with services delivered locally. Over a period of several years, EDS intends to build its portfolio of clients and transition the delivery of services from client dedicated delivery centers to shared service centers of excellence (with each center ultimately specializing in a specific service line, rather than a range of services). April 2009 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Andy Efstathiou This NelsonHall Perspective analyzes the acquisition of Metavante Technologies by Fidelity National Information Services. On April 1, 2009 Fidelity National Information Services (FIS) announced it had agreed to acquire Metavante Technologies (MV) in a stock exchange transaction. June 2008 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Rachael Stormonth NHS Connecting for Health (CfH) is to issue a termination notice to Fujitsu Services for the 10-year contract awarded in January 2004, initially value at £893m and now worth £1.07Bn covering the south and west of England cluster. This follows Fujitsu Services' decision to withdraw from contract re-set negotiations that have been going on since July 2007 over the Care Records Service (CRS), the main part of the NPfIT. While Fujitsu Services will have 20 days to register a counter claim, the company is unlikely to do so. April 2008 | Nelson-Hall Perspectives by Rachael Stormonth This NelsonHall Perspective analyzes Fujitsu Services' progress with the "public sector Flex" agreement. In June 2007 Fujitsu Services was awarded its first contract after becoming the prime for 'public sector Flex': a 5-year £32m IT outsourcing contract with the UK Government Cabinet Office. This award was made within a 7-year framework contract called 'public sector Flex' (known as Project ISAAC in the procurement phase) with the U.K. government to provide IT outsourcing on a shared service basis delivered from Fujitsu's platform.
